About Surveillance Systems
Surveillance systems have been used by individuals, law enforcement and the government
for many years with great success. They vary widely in purpose, from a misbehaving
spouse of business associate to criminal activity to crimes on a Federal level.
A system can be visual, like cameras, auditory, like microphones or both. It
can also vary widely in price from a few dollars to thousands.
A surveillance system can vary greatly in it #39;s appearance and function. Most
are meant mainly for deterrence or detection of suspected illegal or immoral activity,
and then as ways of giving information should someone choose to engage in that behavior.
You can get various types of cameras and, voice recorders- the list of devices
is huge and the quality of these items continually improves while simultaneously,
the prices continually fall. Think of the
best digital camera available
today and what it would have cost even a few years ago. It's a trend in the
industry. Many types of equipment that used to be considered
"James Bond 007 " style items are actually in existence now, and at a price much
more affordable than it would have been in the past.
There are many various reasons for using these types of devices, including keeping
a close eye on and protecting what #39;s most important- like your valuables, and your
children. They have the benefit of proving wrongdoing has occurred, but also as
an effective deterrent.
One state and law enforcement use that is getting more famous all the time
(or perhaps a better word is infamous) is the traffic cam. These cameras have
been used in the UK for quite some time. nbsp; There does not need to be an
officer present anymore to write a summons. Go by a radar point on the highway
too fast nbsp; and you get a
speeding ticket in
the mail. Go through a red light and expect the same. These types of devices are
currently gaining popularity in the U.S.
One personal use example is, the very popular "Nanny cam ". Nanny cams actually become have
become common knowledge in our society- thier greatest feature is that they can
be hidden inside of teddy bears, furniture or anything that could have visual access
into a room if there was a lends and a way to get a signal to a recording device.
The very fact that they are undetectable means that they could be anywhere in a
house- a valuable deterrent for a baby sitter or a any other caretaker who might
think of doing something dishonest. Phone recorders and microphones are so small
these days that they can be used and worn with little possibility of detection.
The quality and range of these items have also increased dramatically as well.
Sometimes, going the other route- in other words, making it very obvious- that
a camera or recording device is present can be highly effective. Did you know that
a percentage of surveillance cameras that you see in stores or on the outside of
office buildings are fake- that no information is being recorded and/or they aren #39;t
even hooked up to anything? Even though you many now know this by reading about
it, it still won't give you any sort of an edge because it is actually pretty difficult,
if not impossible, to tell the difference in many cases. The very fact that you
think you are being watched or even think you are being watched is enough to affect
your behavior.
Sometimes, it's you want to know if someone is watching you. There are many types
of counter-surveillance systems to let you know. There are devices that can
detect bugging equipment with sophistication at levels unheard of even 10 years
ago.
